New Painting for the Living Room
Again, while being sick this past week I got the sudden urge to add something to the corner of our living room near the fireplace. I went down to the basement and dug out two canvasses from a class at Sinclair that served as underpaintings to the fresh painting I just created. It only took about two hours to complete......I think it looks o.k. and it was FREE!! (Not to mention a good way to pass the time while feeling crappy!)

My Falling Out With Orange
This past week and weekend I've been pretty sick and haven't been able to do much of anything. Since I get bored really easily and hate sitting still for too long, I decided painting the kitchen was a good project to attempt while home sick from work - great idea, I know.
On a whim I chose the color "mandarin" by Sherwin Williams. I thought a bright, cheery orange was just what my kitchen needed. What I got was day-glow orange pukarama. No one would want to eat anything after looking at this color on the wall! And let me just say, the picture does not capture the "day-glowiness" of the orange. It was about 4 times brighter than this in person! This was as far as I got painting because I seriously got a headache from the brightness.

Orange, I thought we were friends. I'm blaming all the medication I'm on for this terrible color choice.
Since the orange was so terrible and left me too self-conscious to choose another color, I let Brian choose the color for the kitchen. This is what it looks like now:
It's on the edge of being "Grandma's country kitchen" but I still like it.
And sticking to orange ONLY in accessories is probably a good idea.

Wedding Present from a Bestie
I have another wedding gift to brag about.......seriously, you guys (friends and family) have been too good to us!

How adorable is this? Haven't found a permanent spot for it yet in my roost so right now its hanging out in the dining room with my most favoritest bird figurines ever.

Love it!! Thanks Stella. xoxo.

Wicker for our Porch
Brian and I bought this patio furniture with some of our wedding gift money. I think it fits perfectly and definitely makes the porch cozier - just in time for fall. Can't wait to decorate for our trick-or-treaters!

Room for Fall
Fall is in full swing and I am ready to redecorate based on this year's trends of muted neutrals, robust oranges, and layered patterns and textures. Here are a few samples I quickly pulled together from various websites to showcase some of these trends.
